Spring Cleaning Tips – Part 2

spring cleaning wood floorSo you’ve tackled some of your spring cleaning, but you’re only halfway there. Here are some additional tips to help you complete the job!

1) Area Rugs – Area rugs really only need to be deep-cleaned every five years or so. If you do need to remove a stain on an area rug, try pouring some club soda over the stain and let it settle into the yarn. Blot the area gently and repeat the process until the stain is gone. If the stain is blood, then use milk instead of club soda. For grease-based stains, mix a mild detergent with water for the best results. If it’s gum use ice cube until gum harden then remove by hand.

Spring Cleaning treat2) Bathroom and Kitchen Tiles – Try making a homemade cleanser for cleaning bathroom and kitchen tiles. You’ll need to mix ½ cup of baking soda into two gallons of water until the soda is diluted. For tile floors, apply the mixture with a mop. Backsplashes or the tile around a bathtub can be gently wiped down with a sponge with your homemade cleanser.

3) Organizing Your Closets – Start with sorting out old clothing and accessories for your favorite charity. Then pack away the winter clothes and organize the remaining outfits by color or preference. If you like, pick up a few closet organizers for shoes and accessories to really make your closet spiffy!

Once you’ve finished with all your spring cleaning, add some fresh colors to your bedding, towels and table settings as a reward. Believe me, you’ve earned it!
