Spring Cleaning Tips – Part 1

Spring CleaningAre you ready to tackle your spring cleaning with gusto? Even though there can be a lot to do to get your home in tip-top shape, the end result is more than worth it. Here are a few tips to guide you through this annual project.

1) Stainless Steel– Since stainless steel can scratch easily, use a wax-based aerosol spray rather than an abrasive cleaner. Gently mist the area without soaking the surface and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.

2) Countertops- Depending on the material used for your countertop, you may have to use different cleaners. For instance, a granite countertop requires special attention whereas laminate or tile countertops have their own best cleaners. Overall, a mild cleanser can spruce up most countertops without a problem.

Relax after Spring Cleaning3) Painted Walls- Begin with a soft sponge and water and gently wipe down the walls. If you have stains on the wall that need something stronger, add mild dish soap to the water. The goal is to carefully remove the stain without pulling the paint off the wall.

4) Wood Floors– You can clean your wood floors with a damp mop and a mild soap specifically made for wood floors. Murphy’s Oil Soap is a popular product for cleaning wood floors, or many other wood cleaning products just be sure read the label.

5) Carpets- Vacuuming your carpets often can keep dirt to a minimum. When it comes to spring cleaning, consider hiring a professional carpet service for a deep and thorough cleaning. This is one area where it’s great to splurge! Perhaps your friends and relatives have one to recommend
